If you’re a hiking fanatic, a curious newbie, or just looking for an excuse to escape the couch and explore the great outdoors with some friendly trail-loving folks—welcome!
Happy Hikers Toowoomba is a community of outdoor enthusiasts from all walks of life (yep, we went there). We hit the trails regularly, embracing everything from leisurely strolls to heart-pumping hikes, so no matter your fitness level, you’ll fit right in.
We’re a laid-back bunch who love swapping adventure stories, soaking up nature, and, most importantly, having a great time.
So lace up those boots and come join us—we promise great company, scenic views, and maybe even a post-hike snack or two! 🍃🥾
If you join us on a hike we charge $10/person/hike. This money goes some way to pay the cost of running the hikes, but more importantly, it also goes to nature-based charities, so future generations can enjoy what we, sometimes, take for granted.

Join the fabulous Anita as she leads you on this popular hike across two parks.
Meet at the flag pole at Picnic Point and walk down to the Firetail Track to Stevenson Street. We will cross the range to Redwood Park and hike back up to Bridge St Quarry. We’ll then walk back along the quiet suburban streets to the start.
This is a moderate/challenging walk with a couple of (really) steep inclines, anyone reasonably fit will be fine. Not for complete beginners. It’s about 11km long and will take approx 3.5 hours.
Are you looking for a shorter option? Arrange to get picked up at Bridge Street Quarry, this will reduce the hike by about 4km. Making it a doable 6km hike, the 6km part has the biggest hills though!
Join us for coffee and cake, or brunch at Picnic Point Cafe afterwards if you don’t have to rush off.
PRICE: $10/person (FREE – if you’re booked on ICON Adventures Tour)
GRADE: 2 HIKE
If you have been watching Happy Hikers for a while and are interested in giving hiking a go this is an ideal opportunity to jump (or hike) on in.
Feel free to come with a friend/family or come alone, there will be others there flying solo, so you won’t feel like the odd one out. Trust me!
You don’t need to be super fit, you don’t need special hiking gear, just wear comfortable clothes and sand shoes. However, you should be able to walk for up to an hour with breaks and there will be a couple of inclines and declines.
Start Point: McStayStreet entrance: Follow Rowbotham Street for 2.2km, turn left onto Zupps Road and left onto Dippel Street. Park near the corner of Dippel and McStay Streets.
PRICE: $10/person (FREE – if you’re booked on ICON Adventures Tour)
GRADE: 3.5 HIKE
Want to come on an adventure? There’s a new track that starts at Picnic Point, and it’s a corker!
It’s about 8 km long and should not take more than 2.5 hours. I’d class it as a 3.5 level of difficulty. There are some fairly significant hills as we are right on the edge of the escarpment, but nothing we can’t handle with a few breaks and team support.
We’ll meet at the flag pole at 7.00am and go from there.
Then comes the best bit (optional) – join us for coffee & cake or breakfast at Picnic Point Cafe afterwards (own expense)
PRICE: $10/person (FREE – if you’re booked on ICON Adventures Tour)
We’ve only really skirted around the top of Redwood in the last few times we’ve been, it’s time to go DEEP, down to the bottom and back up to the top again. There will be a few inclines and declines, so as usual we go at our own pace and the speedy crew have to wait every now and again for the others to catch up.
Looking for another fun way to get outdoors and explore? Why not join us for a one day e-bike adventure along the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail?
Join us for a scenic ride from Esk to Toogoolawah, where we’ll stop for a delicious brunch (own expense) before heading back to Esk—all at our own pace!
The great thing about Mount Peel is, we have never done the same walk twice! It’s a rabbit warren of walks and we will make it up as we go. There will be hills, there will be flat walks, we just work it out as we go. None of it will be too hard and when we get to a tricky section we can give options to make it easier.
Kerri Seccombe who some of you may know, she used to manage the Visitor Information Centre at Hampton and is now the Adventure Whiz at ICON Adventures, is the local expert who will lead the way on this hike.
We’ve done this one a couple of times now and it was a very popular, yet challenging hike starting and ending at Preston Peak Chapel. This time we are going to do it the other way round, in stead of finishing with a steep up hill we’ll start with a steep down hill – sounds better!
Not so much a hike and more like a scramble to the summit (and back). There are many large and small rocks large along the trail and is not recommended for beginners. Allow a little extra time at the end for a cuppa and cake at the cafe as a reward.
