Donations Made

If you join us on a hike we charge $10/person/hike. This money goes some way to pay the cost of running the hikes, but more importantly, it also goes to nature-based charities, so future generations can enjoy what we, sometimes, take for granted.

Australian Conservation Foundation – $500

Friends of the Escarpment- $250

Wildlife Queensland – $250

Queensland Trust for Nature – $500

Australian Koala Foundation – $250

Upcoming Hikes

Sunday 15 Sept 24, 8.00am - 10am

REDWOOD PARK

We’ve only really skirted around the top of Redwood in the last few times we’ve been, it’s time to go DEEP, down to the bottom and back up to the top again. There will be a few inclines and declines, so as usual we go at our own pace and the speedy crew have to wait every now and again for the others to catch up.

Brisbane Valley Rail Trail

Looking for another fun way to get outdoors and explore? Why not join us for a one day e-bike adventure along the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail?

Join us for a scenic ride from Esk to Toogoolawah, where we’ll stop for a delicious brunch (own expense) before heading back to Esk—all at our own pace!

Mount Peel

6 October 2024, 7.30am-.9.30am

Mount Peel Hike

The great thing about Mount Peel is, we have never done the same walk twice! It’s a rabbit warren of walks and we will make it up as we go. There will be hills, there will be flat walks, we just work it out as we go. None of it will be too hard and when we get to a tricky section we can give options to make it easier.

Glen Lomond

Sunday 13 October, 2024 8.00am-9.00am

BEGINNER'S HIKE - GLEN LOMOND

If you have been watching Happy Hikers for a while and are interested in giving hiking a go this is an ideal opportunity to jump (or hike) on in.

Feel free to come with a friend/family or come alone, there will be others there flying solo, so you won’t feel like the odd one out. Trust me!

You don’t need to be super fit, but you should be able to walk for up to an hour with breaks and there will be a couple of inclines and declines.

Pechey Forest

DATE TBA

Pechey Forest

Kerri Seccombe who some of you may know, she used to manage the Visitor Information Centre at Hampton and is now the Adventure Whiz at ICON Adventures, is the local expert who will lead the way on this hike.

TBA

Gorman's Gap Hike

We’ve done this one a couple of times now and it was a very popular, yet challenging hike starting and ending at Preston Peak Chapel. This time we are going to do it the other way round, in stead of finishing with a steep up hill we’ll start with a steep down hill – sounds better!

Table Top from Picnic Point

TRACK CURRENTLY CLOSED

Tabletop Mountain

Not so much a hike and more like a scramble to the summit (and back).  There are many large and small rocks large along the trail and is not recommended for beginners. Allow a little extra time at the end for a cuppa and cake at the cafe as a reward.

McNIGHT Hike Toowoomba

TBA

Picnic Point to McKnight to Barry Griffiths

Want to come on an adventure? There’s news of a new track that links with Picnic Point, so who wants to come and see if we can find it?

It’s about 6 – 8 km long and should not take more than 2.5 hours. There are some fairly steady hills to negotiate, so be prepared to get the heart pumping

TBA

Picnic Point to Redwood and Return

Let’s meet at the flag pole at Picnic Point and walk down to the Firetail Track to Stevenson Street. We will cross the range to Redwood Park and hike back up to Bridge St Quarry.

We’ll then walk back along the quiet suburban streets to the start. We can have a coffee at Picnic Point at the end.
